Walking & Fly-Camping in Africa’s Biggest Park
Combine foot, boat and vehicle on a safari in the vast and remote wilds of Nyerere National Park. This itinerary includes two nights of fly-camping bookended by nights at a luxury fixed camp.
The Natural Way To Explore Wilderness
At over 30,000km2, Nyerere is Africa’s largest national park. It was established in 2019 in the northern sector of Selous Game Reserve, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its biodiversity. The park has healthy numbers of the full range of East African game animals and their predators, and is a birding hotspot with over 400 recorded species.
Given its size and remoteness, most visitors to the park fly in to one of its airstrips. A number of lodges in the park offer day walks, and one runs overnight fly-camping, combining boat, vehicle and foot travel.
