Laikipia’s Dedicated Trails Base
Stay at a comfortable trails camp in the remote west of the Laikipia plateau and enjoy daily guided walks in a splendid landscape.
the natural way to explore wilderness
Kenya is the quintessential safari destination and walking safaris are a popular activity. The top walking destination is the central Laikipia Plateau, and area with an altitude and climate well suited to the activity. There, and in remote northern wilderness areas, camel-supported mobile safaris are a speciality.
Although the National Reserve of Maasai Mara itself does not allow walks, there are fine multi-day options in the adjacent private Greater Mara conservancies and Loita Hills. At a lower altitude in the east, Tsavo National Park and Amboseli are magnificent walking safari destinations in the dry months.
See Chapter 12 of Walking Safaris of Africa for detailed information about the country’s walking safaris.
