Hwange National Park is located in western Zimbabwe and is the country’s largest national park, covering an area of approximately 14,650km2. It is an excellent walking safari destination, and visitors will see the full range of African savanna wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. The park is also home to over 400 bird species, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise.
Walking safaris are popular in the park and recommended camps include Hwange Bush Camp and Camp Hwange. The park has a number of private camp sites utilised for walk and drive itineraries organised by companies from Victoria Falls including Inzilia Safaris and Umdingi Safaris. The park can also be included in a walks-centred tour of Zimbabwe.
