In Kulala Wilderness Reserve, right at the approach to the renowned marsh of Sossusvlei, Little Kulala is a comfortable lodge operated by Wilderness. Although known for its arid climate, the Namib supports a surprising wealth of wildlife and night walks here can be especially revealing. Dawn walks also explore the Tsauchab River Trail.
Walks can be enjoyed year round, and as there is no shade they take place in the early morning and late afternoons when temperatures are moderate. June to October is the driest season, with cold nights and clear night skies. Summer months bring the possibility of rainfall, and if there is a sufficiency then the desert plains are transformed into lush grassland and any pools of water are instantly full of life. April and May are possibly the nicest walking months, with the plains attracting grazing gemsbok and springbok and temperatures comfortable.
