This five night itinerary combines three nights in comfortable lodges with two nights of adventurous sleep-out style fly-camping. Guests just carry a small day pack.

The nights before and after the sleep-out trail are spent at Luambe Camp, the exclusive lodge in the park. The camp is directly overlooking the Luangwa and has four comfortable and spacious en-suite tents.

The trail runs from July to October, the peak season for walking in the Luangwa valley. The group size is four to eight and minimum age is 12.

Luambe National Park is best accessed by air to Mfuwe Airport via Lusaka, from where the camp is about 4 hours drive. The first night is spent at a lodge in South Luangwa National Park, allowing for an early start on the second day with a slow game drive through the Nsefu sector of the park before proceeding to Luambe Camp in Luambe National Park, arriving in time for high tea and the trail briefing. The second night is spent at Luambe Camp.

The third and fourth nights are spent at an adventurous but comfortable sleep-out camp. The camp is moved by vehicle while the guests are walking. The fly-camp features cots set under mosquito nets, warm water bucket showers and short-drop toilets. On the fifth day there’s an early walk and then a bush breakfast before returning to Luambe Camp. On the sixth day guests drive back to Mfuwe.
