Rhino Ridge is a comfortable, privately operated lodge located on community lands that have been incorporated into Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

It offers walks throughout the year at an additional fee. The lodge location is terrific, perched on a hill on the northern boundary of the Hluhluwe section of the park.

Dawn walks are led by one or two armed guides, and last about three hours.
Afternoon walks are also possible and depart at 15:00 after high tea. Those aged over 65 should bring a doctor’s certificate of
fitness. Although the area around the lodge is hilly, the walks are not too demanding and aim to keep in areas of thin bushveld and grassland. There’s a good chance to come close to rhinos on foot.
Walks outside the park boundary are also offered. One two- to three-hour walk explores the nearby Ndimbili Gorge;
as there’s no dangerous game on this walk, children from 10 years are allowed.
There is also a cultural walk which takes in nearby Zulu homesteads, offering the opportunity to learn about traditional life,
crafts and bush medicine, and homestays can be arranged.
