Of all the beautiful Lemala properties in northern Tanzania, Nanyukie Lodge is the one to pick for walking safaris. Located in quintessential Serengeti grasslands studded with granite kopjes and shaded by elegant acacias, the camp is home for Lemala's Lead Trails Guide. The combination of open terrain, elevated look-outs, and secret wooded valleys makes for interesting walking conditions. The camp itself sits on a grassy savanna dotted with rocky kopjes and shaded by ancient giant acacia trees.
There is plentiful wildlife that includes all of the endemic game species, rich birdlife, and the area is known for its population of big cats. Walks are an opportunity to not only encounter big animals, but to appreciate all of the little things that are essential to a healthy ecosystem.
The minimum age to take part in walks is 15, and maximum group size is 6.
Lemala Nanyukie is accessed via Seronera Airstrip in the park’s central region, a one hour drive from the lodge.
During their stay, guests at Lemala Nanyukie can opt for a walking safari that is tailored to their ability and interests, ranging from a couple of hours to half a day as desired. There is a good variation of terrain and walk locations, including the Hidden Valleys area, with its views to the Ngorongoro Highlands complex in one direction and the Gol Mountains in the other. Another walk takes in a series of rocky kopjes that provide vantage points to watch for game below.
Walks are offered at an additional fee, and are led by a professional guide and a tracker.
