Explore the most scenically spectacular big game habitat in Zimbabwe in a journey that combines wild camping with walks and game drives.

For this trip, guests are based at two exclusive wilderness camp sites. Vikani is located centrally in the Sinamatella area of Hwange National Park, which is defined by rocky out crops interspersed with mixed woodland and grasslands. The second site is in the very north of Hwange in the Robins area; Robins Deka River Camp is set in rugged basalt rock and large grasslands, an area rich in natural water with seeps and springs dotting the area. These areas are home to some of the last great buffalo herds in Africa, with herds of 800 still seen, never mind having the second largest elephant population in Africa. The scenery of Robins is varied with hills, kopjes (small bouldered hills) and vlei (grassed plains that flood seasonally) areas and has a lot to offer the wildlife enthusiast.

Walking safaris are seen as the backbone of a safari in Zimbabwe. It is an incredibly intimate experience to walk through areas that very few ever get to walk. Add to this the possibility of walking amongst our giants of the bush. Experiencing a safari on foot cannot be compared to that of being in a 4 x 4 Game Viewer. This trip is organised by Umdingi Safaris, and walks are led by a professional walking guide who will interpret the rich fauna and flora.

The walks last any where from 2 hours to 6 hours but all depends on the fitness and eagerness. The group size is 2-8 and the four night itinerary can be extended as desired.

Guests for this itinerary can be collected in Victoria Falls Town or airport. For self-drivers, directions and secure parking can be provided.

The private road transfer from Victoria Falls to Sinamatella takes roughly 2 hours, and at this point you will be met by an open 4 x 4 game viewer. Now the fun begins with this transfer taking a further 3 hours, which includes a picnic lunch and hopefully plenty of sightings of wildlife along the way to Vikani camp.

Our days are rather long, with wake up at 05:30am, this makes the most of the cooler mornings, “early bird catches the worm”. Lunch is mostly back in camp with a siesta in between your afternoon Game Drive, with dinner back in camp.

After two nights in Vikani, transferring to the Robins sector of the park is a full day with a picnic lunch along the way. The camp is dismantled entirely and moved to the Deka River site. Here the early mornings will remain.

Departure from Robins back to Victoria Falls will take roughly 3 and a half hours, with most of the trip in a closed vehicle.
